Boyle
Town Plans on display
I spoke with a couple of visitors to Boyle over the
past few days and asked them for their thoughts on
the town. They told me they think we have a very special
place here, one with great potential, well laid-out,
pretty and tidy compared to others they have visited.
Thanks to Boyle visionaries in 1998, there
is a current display of drawings in McDonagh's Newsagents.
In 1998 Boyle Chamber of Commerce commissioned Bolton
Street Architectural students to suggest how Boyle
streetscapes might be developed in future. This set
of creative, empathetic and highly acclaimed drawings
as well as a 3D scale model were produced at the end
of the exercise. It is a shame that through the "boom"
years the drawings were stored away and not on public
display as inspirational pieces for planners and developers.
Hopefully the 3D model will also be displayed
- it is a brilliant one!
