Boyle
River
The
Boyle-River flows from through Lough Gara, Lough Key,
Oakport Lough and Drumharlow Lough before entering
the Shannon above Carrick-on-Shannon. Cuppanan-Bridge
will fish well in early season with bags of Roach
to 50lb, and big Bream and Hybrids. With a dry summer
the water becomes to shallow and weedy and is difficult
to fish, other places to fish include Drum-Bridge,
Knockvicar and Cootehall all can be productive on
the day.
Lough
Key
This
is a large lake but access can be difficult and the
best results can be gained by using a boat to access
one of the islands or the shore. Having a very good
stock of Bream, Roach and Hybrids. The best areas
for coarse fishing are the Doon shore, Erris bay and
the Knockvicar side of the lake. The lake produced
the Irish Pike record on the 11 April 1993 of 39lb
3ozs.
Lough
Derreen
Located
approx 7 miles from Boyle along the Knockvicar road.
Fishing is into10 to 20 feet of water along any of
the 50 single stands on the lake. The lake holds good
stocks of Bream, Rudd, Roach, Tench and Hybrids. The
lake is accessed though Coillte land. Anglers should
note that you are not allowed to drive cars to the
lake without express permission from Coillte.
