June 2010 - "While taking a few days holiday with some mates of mine from the UK we fished some of the loughs in Killashandra. Although the fishing was poor due to the hot weather and the low water, we proved once again with patience and a little bit of work, you can find and catch some good bags of fish we had weights of around 70lb a piece, with Bream to 7lb, Hybrids to 2½lb, Roach Perch and best of all 6 Tench - the biggest to just over 5lb

You still need to find the place you want to fish, preferably deep water in hot weather and use plenty of ground-bait. I find a cheap way to do this is to put about 3lb of calf pellets in a bowl, cover with hot water and leave for a couple of hours or to soak over night, then mix in about 3lb of brown-crumb, more if you want until it becomes easy to push though a riddle. Then add water as needed on the bank put in all you sample bait casters, corn, chopped-worm, etc. Make the balls nice and hard and try to cover the same area put in plenty of bait and fish for a least 2days early morning and the late evening are best in the summer months".
