children's drama, music & art workshops, performances
from John Carty / Anne Joyce, Thomas Cryan, David
Tobin, NO CROWS, Regina Nathan and Phil Coulter in
Concert. Boyle Drama Group will give another excellent

Children's
Workshops
Circus skills, rap writing, cartoon animation, drama,
art and pottery are among a series of children's workshops
which have been organised for Boyle Arts Festival
from July 25th to August 1st. Details of the workshops
have now been announced booking forms have been distributed
around local schools. Additional copies of the programme
can be obtained from the Library and King House or
via the website: www.boylearts.com.
Art Exhibition
Amateur artists are invited to enter their work in
this year's BAF Open Exhibition. The exhibition runs
from Friday, 25th July until Friday, 1st August, throughout
the Boyle Arts Festival. Entries will be accepted
in any medium, to a maximum of 3 per person. Last
year's exhibition was well supported as always and
many works were sold. We anticipate another excellent
show, exhibits for which will be selected by a panel.
Poetry
Competition
The closing date for Boyle Arts Festival Poetry Competition
looms. Local writers are invited to submit as many
poems as they wish (subject to an entry fee for each
one) on any theme, up to 40 lines long by June 16th.
The adjudicator for the competition is well known
poet Peter Fallon. A Poetry Reading by Peter Fallon
takes place on Sunday, July 27th at the Royal Hotel
in Boyle at 12.30pm. The reading will be followed
by the presentation of prizes to the winner and runners
up of the Arts Festival Poetry Competition and by
readings of the winning and highly recommended poems.
Peter will also be running a Poetry Workshop after
the reading: 'The Assembly of a Poem'. Competition
prizes are €300 for the winning poem and €50
for the four runners up. Peter Fallon was born in
1951 and grew up on a farm near Kells in County Meath.
He is a graduate of Trinity College, Dublin, where
he has taught as Writer Fellow. At the age of eighteen,
in 1970, he founded The Gallery Press, Ireland's leading
literary publishing company. Entry forms can be downloaded

Open day at Boyle Golf Course, Historical Walk &
Hill climbing and to finish the night off there will
be a Buffet Dance in St.Joseph's Hall, Boyle.
Sun 2nd Aug - Special Back to
Boyle 11.30am mass in St.Joseph's Church
September
Saturday 6th September - Heritage Farmers Market
Day
Once again, the Boyle Origin
Farmers Market will take a step back in time to days
gone bye. Vintage cars, vintage artifacts, butter-making,
rare breed farm animals, pig roasting on a spit, wood-turning
and lots, lots more.

27th & Sun 28th September - UFO Conference
The conference will take place
in The Bush Hotel, Carrick-On-Shannon. A list of speakers
and events will be available soon.
October
Saturday 25th October - Childrens Halloween Art Workshop
This
is an annual workshop that always gets filled up very
quickly. The Workshop takes place in Boyle Library
from 11.30am to 1pm and costs €15 per child.
The workshop is available for children aged 5 to 12.

Saturday 25th October - Halloween Farmers Market
In
additional to all the wonderful fresh local produce
available: all stall holders will be dressed up in
a Halloween Theme. Prizes for children dressed up
in their own scary outfits; Halloween Hamper to be
won from free draw.

November to 16th November - Boyle Musical Performance
Boyle
Musical Society are delighted to announce that they
will be staging another spectacular Musical. More
details nearer the date.

November & 29th November - Christmas Craft Fair
Wonderful selection of crafts
once again this year to help you complete your Christmas
shopping in time...The Craft Fair takes place in King
House, Boyle.The doors open on Friday 28th at 7pm
to 10pm and Saturday 29th at 10am to 5pm.
